The idea for this website came from a desire to share all the amazing stories I was exposed to about as a beauty editor working for a glossy magazine. I learned about beauty brands and their origin stories, how and where they sourced ingredients, the people they collaborated with, and how a product made its journey from raw material to shelf. I didn’t always have a chance to tell a story exactly the way I wanted to without worrying about space.
The concept for the site was also inspired by my love of travel. When I wasn’t traveling for work, I was off exploring on my own and my travels brought me to places like Positano with its lemon-scented soaps and Tokyo with its drugstores brimming with face masks and weird beauty gadgets. I was always taking notes and looking for ways to share stories about everything I saw and learned.
And that’s how 100 ML was born. It takes a look at beauty through a travel lens. It’s about beauty products from around the world, the people who create them and the people who use them. I truly believe that beauty products and rituals have a way of bringing us closer together, no matter how far apart we may appear to be on a map.
